SHIPPING SHARE FEES
Understanding "Shipping Share" fees
At Astegos.org, we are committed to supporting educators, nonprofit organizations, and community members by providing access to essential goods at significantly reduced costs. In 2024, we were able to provide MILLIONS of dollars worth of products to our members at our Community Warehouse. To sustain this mission, we use a “Shipping Share” or administrative fee system.
What is a "Shipping Share" fee?
A “Shipping Share” admin fee is a small contribution that helps cover the costs associated with acquiring, transporting, storing, and managing the goods we distribute. While many of the items available in our warehouse are generously donated by Good360, nationwide retailers, businesses and organizations, there are still expenses involved in making these products available to our community.
These costs include:
-
Freight & Transportation – The cost of moving items from donors to our warehouse
-
Warehouse Operations – Rent, utilities, and staffing needed to receive, sort, and manage inventory
-
Equipment & Supplies – Shelving, pallets, forklifts, and other tools to organize and store items safely.
-
Grant Program – Supplying free and low-cost resources to organizations and programs that benefit local educators, nonprofits, and families in need.
-
Community Programs – Supporting the work of Astegos in the community with events such as Unplug and Play, our backpack project, housing and feeding programs.
How Does This Benefit You?
By contributing a “Shipping Share” fee, you are helping to sustain a system that allows teachers, school workers, homeschool parents, churches, and nonprofits to source products at a fraction of retail costs—often 50% to 90% lower than what you would find in stores. This model makes it possible for us to keep serving the community while keeping items accessible and affordable for those who need them most.
Why We Use This Model
Unlike traditional retail stores or resellers, Astegos.org is a nonprofit organization that reinvests every dollar back into the community. The “Shipping Share” fee is not a markup or profit margin—it is simply a way to share the costs of making these resources available. Without these contributions, we would not be able to operate our Community Warehouse program.
Transparency & Commitment
Our goal is to remain as transparent as possible about our costs and ensure that every “Shipping Share” fee is used to further our mission. We appreciate your support in helping us make a difference in the lives of educators, families, and nonprofit organizations.
